The Indian Wedding Film
Indian wedding videos require a special awareness of the culture and should capture the excitement and vibrance of the event. The colours of indian weddings should always be paid special attention to as they are definitely something that is quite unique to the indian wedding.

Long ago it used to be the bride’s family’s responsibility to organise her trousseau that she would bring along to her fiancee’s house . Most brides would not take their old clothes to their new home. Tradition would see the preparation of 11, 21, or sometimes 101 new clothing articles to me made for the bride. Today some brides keep old traditions alive and others are not as worried about the numbers game.
The trousseau also refers to accessories ranging from purses to bangles to shoes. Bed sheets and kitchen utensils may also be a part of the trousseau as well as new pieces of jewelry.
A wide range of lehngas, saris and salwar kameezes are usually included for all of the various indian wedding events.
The Henna or Mehndi
Mehndi is yet another traditional yet exciting pre wedding ceremony. Mehandi is one of the sixteen adornments of the bride and her beauty is incomplete without it.
Mehndi ceremony usually takes place just before marriage. According to the ritual, the bride does not step out of the house after this ceremony. Mehndi ceremony is essentially organized by the family of the bride and is usually a private affair which takes place in the presence of friends, relatives and family members. Sometimes, the Mehndi ceremony resembles another sangeet ceremony.
Turmeric paste is applied on bride’s face, feet and hands after which Mehndi application begins. Mehndi is applied on the bride’s hands, arms, feet and legs. This ceremony is primarily a womens function, taking place amidst siunds of Dholak, with women singing traditional songs for a prosperous marital life of the bride. It is believed he darker the color of the Mehndi, the more her husband will love her. The bride is not allowed to work in her marital house till the time her Mehndi fades away.
Sharbat is a refreshing drink made using Indian berries
Haldi is a ritual holy bath during which turmeric (Haldi), oil and water is applied to both the bride and groom by married women.
Sangeet means music. As the name suggests, this function is an evening of musical entertainment and merriment hosted by the bride’s family.
Traditionally the bride wears a sari or a lehenga which is highly ornate with gold and silver embroidery.
Two sets of clay plates referred to as sapatia are placed in-front of the bride and groom. Each set contains lentils, symbolizing nature’s bounty; a quarter symbolizing material wealth; sugar for sweetness and harmony; and turmeric for good health. The couple must step onto the sapatia and break it in order to release the gifts inside. Make sure you cheer your respective side as it is believed that whoever breaks the sapatia first will rule the home!
